Mountains and Water

Mountains supply drinkable water for one half of the population in this planet. This is not only crucial for human consumption, it is also essential for all of the areas of human activity, such as agriculture, energy production and transportation. Climate change impacts mountain climate systems and consequently the availability of drinkable water, be it because of the reduction of glaciers, which alters the flow of water springing from the cusps of mountains, or because of changes in the patterns of rain and humidity in the environment.
