Aiming at increasing the debate scope, participation and joint construction of the internal climate agenda in Peru’s Route towards the COP21, the Ministry of the Environment and the University Antonio Ruiz de Montoya organized the Forum: “Taking care of the Common House: Encyclical Laudato Si”, which will be conducted today at 17:30 in the Marriot Hotel.

This Forum, also aims at strengthening the reflection on environmental problems at the local level and worldwide. It will include a panel of experts that will address the encyclical from different perspectives that reflect four main strands of the encyclical: the technical-scientific one, development models, theological approach and political approach.

This event will discuss the first great encyclical that Pope Francis wrote to the more than 1,200 million Catholics worldwide, asking for reflection and clear actions to address climate change; calling it a moral issue for the Catholic Church.

Different representatives of the Catholic Church will make presentations, together with recognized experts on climate change, as Prof. Jeffrey Sachs (Special Advisor of Ban Ki-moon) and Eduardo Agosta (PhD on atmosphere and ocean sciences – Catholic University of Argentina), among others. This event will be webcasted live on this link.
